Welcome
If you don't know me personally you may be surprised at the content on this site. You see, I lead a double... well, multifaceted life. I'm a programmer, but for the last several years I have studied human sexuality in academia. I suppose you could call it my "cause".
There is some great research being done in academia on human sexuality. However, much of that research is not being used, or even seen outside of academia. I hope that will change, and I'm leaving academia in part to have the freedom to bring about that change.
This site is intended to be an information outlet, a form of "aftercare" for sexual science. I will post information about my lab (The SexPrefs Lab) as well as information from other researchers' work. I hope to help inform people about current research on sexuality and to encourage individuals to participate in scientific fact-finding. Absolute truth may not exist, but at least we can work on understanding the threads of different stories and tying them together.
In my experience, evolutionary theory has been an exceptional tool in discovering and tying threads together into a coherent story. Evolutionary developmental perspectives—such as life history theory—integrate the plot-line of evolution with our impressive ability to adapt to our specific environment. These are the lenses through which I read the story of human sexuality. I invite you to join me and to share your own threads and perspectives.
